Dear Friends of Alewife Reservation Muskrat Marsh Team:

The Belmont Conservation Commission would like to express its support for the effort being made by the Muskrat Marsh team to study and improve the hydrology of the 10 acre marsh located on the border of our town and owned by Bulfinch Properties. One of our Associate Members, Mr. Stewart Sanders, a team member, has been reporting to the commission on the progress of this enterprise.

We are hopeful that eventual improvements to the marsh may include facilitation of the flow of water through the marsh, removal of invasive species, reduction in pollution, and possibly an increase in biodiversity. We appreciate the contributions of the agencies that provide funding and services for your work: the Natural Resources Conservation Services of USDA, Lesley University Natural Sciences Program, Wetlands Restoration Program of the Massachusetts Coastal Zone Management, the BSC Group, and FAR volunteers and Coalition for Alewife members.

We look forward to learning more about the beneficial work and findings of the Muskrat Marsh team. Please keep us informed on a regular (bi-monthly basis).
